Cooking with Hemp 101
Hemp is a superfood, but it's delicate. Don't burn your benefits away.

Integrating hemp into your diet is a great way to support your ECS. However, cooking with CBD oil or hemp hearts requires a little finesse.
Rule #1: Watch the Heat
Cannabinoids degrade at high temperatures.
- Boiling Point of Terpenes: ~300°F - 400°F
- Degradation of CBD: Begins around 320°F - 350°F
The Fix: Never use CBD oil as a frying oil. Instead, add it after the cooking is done.
- Stir into soup just before serving.
- Drizzle over roasted veggies.
- Blend into dressings.
Rule #2: Fat is Your Friend
Cannabinoids are lipophilic (fat-soluble). They need fat to be absorbed by your body.
- Good Carriers: Olive oil, coconut oil, butter, avocado, yogurt, cheese.
- Bad Carriers: Water, juice, skim milk (unless you add a fat source).
Rule #3: Storage Matters
Light and air are the enemies of freshness.
- Hemp Hearts: Keep them in the fridge or freezer after opening to prevent the healthy fats from going rancid.
- CBD Oil: Keep in a cool, dark cabinet.
Easy Ways to Start
- Salad Dressing: Whisk a dropper of CBD oil into your vinaigrette. The herbal flavor pairs well with greens.
- Coffee: Add a dash of milk/cream (fat) and a drop of oil.
- Topping: Sprinkle hemp hearts on oatmeal, yogurt, or avocado toast.
